ஈஸ்டர் திருநாளும், நரிதாவில் நடந்த தாள வாத்திய இசை நிகழ்ச்சியும்!

சனிக்கிழமை ஏப்ரல் 11, 2009:

வருடாந்திர தாள இசை விழா, காலை 9 மணியளவில் தாள வாத்திய இசையுடன் ஆரம்பமாகும். அதிகாலையில் எழுந்து 7 மணிக்கு ரயிலை பிடித்தால் அதை பார்த்து விட்டு, அதன் பிறகு நரிதா கோவிலை பார்த்து விட்டு, அதை சுற்றியுள்ள பூங்கா/தோட்டத்தை சுற்றி வந்தாலே 3 மணி ஆகி விடும். அதன் பிறகு 5 மணிக்கு ஆரம்பிக்கும் தாள வாத்திய கச்சேரியை கேட்டு ரசித்து விட்டு, 7 மணியளவில் நிகழ்ச்சி முடிந்ததும் வீடு திரும்புவதாக திட்டமிட்டோம்.  

நம்மவர்களை பற்றி ஏற்கனவே தெரியுமே? சனிக்கிழமை எவன் சீக்கிரம் எந்திரிப்பான்? மதியம் 12.15 அளவில் நரிதாவில் சந்திப்போம் என்று முடிவு செய்தோம். நானும் சனி, ஞாயிறுகளில் சீக்கிரம் எந்திரிப்பவன் இல்லை. (மற்ற நாட்களில் மட்டும் ஐந்து மணிக்கு எந்திரிச்சிவியோன்னு கேக்க கூடாது!)  

இது வருடம் ஒரு முறை நடக்கும் விழா, அதனால் தவற விட வேண்டாம் என்று நண்பர் தாஸ் சொன்னதால் சீக்கிரம் எழுந்து தயாராகி, 9.30 மணியளவில் வீட்டை விட்டு கிளம்பி விட்டேன். கவாசாகியில் வேறு சில அலுவலக நண்பர்கள் சேர்ந்து கொள்வதாக சொன்னார்கள். 9.50-க்கு நான் செல்லும் வண்டி கவசகியை அடைந்ததும், ஆறாவது பெட்டியில் என்னை சந்திக்குமாறு தொலைபேசியில் அழைத்து சொன்னேன். 

அப்போது சரி என்று சொன்னவர்கள், பின்னர் கவாசாகியில் என்னை பார்த்ததும், "9.45க்கு தான் ஒருத்தன் எந்திரிச்சான், அவனும் வந்து சேரட்டும், கவாசாகியில் இறங்கி விடு" என்றார்கள். இந்த ரயிலை விட்டால், இரண்டு மூன்று இடங்களில் மாறி சென்றால் தான் நரிதா சென்று அடைய முடியும், மேலும் முப்பது நிமிடங்கள் தாமதம் ஆகலாம் என்றேன். இருந்தாலும் நம்ம பேச்சை எவன் கேக்குறான்? 

கவாசாகியில் இருபது நிமிடங்கள் காத்திருந்தோம், அப்புறம் தாமதமாக வந்தவனை எல்லோரும் போட்டு சாத்த, நிப்போரி செல்லும் ரயிலில் ஏறி, ஒருவரை ஒருவர் கேலியும் கிண்டலும் செய்தபடியே போய்க்கொண்டிருந்தோம். இந்த ரயில் நிப்போரியில் நிற்காது என்றேன், அங்கே ஒரு அதிபுத்திசாலி "இல்லை, இல்லை, அங்கே கண்டிப்பாக நிற்கும்" என அதுவரை புத்தகம் படிப்போம் என்று David Baldacci எழுதிய The Collectors-இல் மூழ்கினேன். துரதிர்ஷ்டவசமாக நிப்போரியை தாண்டி சென்று பத்து நிமிடங்கள் கழித்து தான் நாங்கள் தவறாக போய்க் கொண்டு இருக்கிறோம் என்று தெரிந்தது. 

அடுத்த ரயில் நிலையத்தில் இறங்கி நிப்போரிக்கு சென்று, அங்கிருந்து 12.50-க்கு நரிதா சென்றடைந்தோம். எங்களுக்காக 35 நிமிடங்களுக்கு மேல் காத்திருந்த தாசிடம் அலுவலக நண்பர்களை அறிமுகம் செய்து வைத்தேன், "சில பல குழப்பங்களினால் தாமதாகி விட்டது, மன்னிக்கவும்" என்றேன். "பரவாயில்லை, நல்லபடியாக வந்து சேர்ந்தீர்களே, அது போதும்." என்றார்.  

தாஸ், நாம் எங்கே போகிறோம், என்ன பார்க்க போகிறோம் என்று விளக்கிய படியே எல்லோரையும் நரிதா கோவிலை நோக்கி கூட்டி சென்றார். அங்கே போகும் முன் உணவகத்தை தேர்ந்தெடுக்க மறுபடியும் பிரச்சினை, இருவர் இந்திய உணவகம் செல்ல, ஐவர் இத்தாலிய உணவகம் சென்றோம். அங்கே நடந்த சம்பவத்தை வேறு பதிவில் சொல்லியிருக்கிறேன். http://joeanand.blogspot.com/2009/04/blog-post_14.html  

ஜப்பானிய பெரியவர் ஒருவர் தானாகவே முன் வந்து அங்குள்ள சிலைகளைப் பற்றியும், ஏழாம் நூற்றாண்டில் கட்டப்பட்ட அந்த கோவிலைப் பற்றியும் எங்களிடம் ஆங்கிலத்தில் விளக்கி சொன்னார்.  

ஹிந்து மதத்தில் அவதாரங்களை நம்புவது போல இவர்களும் லட்சகணக்கில் கடவுள் அவதாரங்கள் இருப்பதாக நம்புவதாகவும், அதிலொன்று தான் புத்தர் என்றும் சொன்னார். (இந்த குழப்பத்தினால தான் இங்க இருக்கிறவங்க யாரும் கோவிலுக்கு வருசத்துக்கு ஒரு தடவைக்கு மேல போறதில்லையோ?)  

முதல் முறையாக ஒரு பௌத்த மத ஆலயத்தில் பூஜை எப்படி நடக்கிறது என்பதை பார்த்தேன். ஹிந்து கோவில்களில் மந்திரம் ஓதி தீபாராதனை காட்டுவது போல, புத்த மத துறவிகளும் செய்தார்கள்.  

அழகாக பூத்திருந்த சாகுரா பூக்களை சில புகைப்படங்கள் எடுத்து விட்டு, பூங்காவை சுற்றி நடக்க ஆரம்பித்தோம்.

4.45 மணியளவில் இசை நிகழ்ச்சி நடக்கும் இடத்துக்கு திரும்பினோம். கூட்டம் அதிகமானதால், உட்கார இடம் கிடைக்கவில்லை. இரண்டு மணி நின்று கொண்டே இருந்தாலும், தாள வாத்தியங்கள், புல்லாங்குழல் இசையில் நேரம் போனதே தெரியவில்லை.

ஈஸ்டர் இதுவரையில் தனியாக கொண்டாடியதில்லை. திருச்சியில் மனைவி, மகன், அப்பா, அம்மாவுடனோ, மதுரையில் சித்தப்பா வீட்டிலோ, எப்படியும் ஒரு பதினைந்து, இருபது உறவினர்களோடு தான் கொண்டாடுவேன்.  

இந்த முறை யோகோஹாமா-வில் தனியா இருந்தது, கொஞ்சம் கொடுமையாக இருந்தது. Onsite - offshore model -இல் சிக்கி தவிக்கும் மென்பொருளாளர்களுக்கு வேறு வழியில்லை.

Losing a "glass"mate!

I met an old friend in Shibuya last night for drinks/dinner. (For those of you don't know Shibuya, it's one of those towns in Tokyo, popular for night life)

We were walking aimlessly without deciding where to eat/drink and when I asked him if we were heading to his favorite Irish pub in Shibuya, he told me that he had quit drinking. I was like "WHAT?". "What the F@#$? You are just kidding, right". But he told me that he really quit.

I mean, this man who was my "glass"mate for more than a decade, has decided to quit, as his doctor advised to reduce alcohol intake. And I still can't believe that I lost a fellow drunkard!

I went to his residence for lunch and he pulled out 3 bottles of wine. (We were planning to see cherry blossoms in a park near his apartment, which flopped. But that's a story for another day). I was hoping, I was simply hoping that he might say that he had not quit and he decided not to drink on Fridays due to some reason or whatever and he was just trying to fool me. He poured himself a glass of Japanese tea and we said cheers. So he really quit. I had really lost a "glass"mate, too bad.

After 6 hours of chatting with him, his wife & a couple of friends who had gathered there, I returned home and got into the hot tub, drank 500ml Asahi beer and raised a toast to an old "glass"mate who had turned a new leaf.

I can't write any more. I am going to take the fetus position and sob!
